June ends with another severe weather watch for Airdrie
On Sunday evening, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Airdrie. "Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Thunderstorms will continue to develop this evening, and weaken tonight. Be prepared for severe weather," the watch stated. Residents are also urged to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. "Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!" Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall. The watch is also in effect for Crossfield. Send your news tips, story ideas, pictures, and videos to news@discoverairdrie.com.
