Airdrie's celebration of the Arts, ARTember, came to a peaceful end on Sunday night with a traditional lighted floating lantern ceremony at Cooper's Crossing. A sizable crowd showed up to take part in this unique send-off to the event, including Lindsay Blackett, Minister of Culture and Community Spirit. Blackett was impressed by all that Airdrie did to celebrate Alberta Arts Days:

Minister of Culture and Community Spirit, Lindsay Blackett, was on hand to celebrate.

Members of Airdrie's Fire Department took care of lighting and launching about 500 floating lanterns into the pond in Cooper's.

ARTember was a 17 day-long celebration of the arts in our community, that included visual, performing and literary arts and culminated in a City-wide celebration over Alberta Arts Days, September 30, October 1 and 2. Organized by the Creative Airdrie Society with the help of 100s of volunteers, hopes are that this will become an annual event.
