Airdrie man arrested after QEII collision near Highway 582
RCMP say a 43-year-old Airdrie man was arrested after a two-vehicle collision early Sunday morning on the northbound QEII near Highway 582 in Mountain View County. Police say the crash happened around 2:45 a.m. Oct. 26, when a Chevrolet Traverse and a Ford Bronco, both travelling north, collided. Four people in the Bronco suffered significant but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by EMS to a Calgary-area hospital. RCMP say the lone man driving the Traverse fled on foot but was located nearby with help from Olds RCMP and Police Dog Services. He was arrested for failing to stop after an accident and taken to the Didsbury detachment for further investigation. Mounties say alcohol is believed to have been a factor. Northbound traffic on the QEII was diverted for several hours while a collision reconstruction analyst examined the scene. Anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t spoken with investigators is asked to call Didsbury RCMP at 403-335-3382 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
