ARRES hosted their first Airdrie Athletes and Friends Raise the Rinks Golf Classic Thursday afternoon, in support of Phase III at Genesis Place.

Carolina Hurricanes forward, Zach Boychuk, and Tampa Bay Lightning forward, Dana Tyrell, who played together for the Airdrie Extreme, were two of many golfers out at Woodside Golf Course for the event. The field was rounded out by Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown and Olympic luger Eric Pothier.

"It's an awesome facility. Anytime you can bring Athletes together, make something so accessible, its important to the community" said Pothier.

It's hard to imagine that a tournament this big, with the names they were able to bring in, and the prizing involved took less than half the time it usually takes to put a tournament together.

"Normally, you put together a golf tournament in six months," claimed Jack Lumley, ARRES Chairman. "But with the right committee, we knew we could do it in about two and a half months."

The final addition to Genesis Place will include two NHL sized indoor ice rinks to go along with the six pools, water slide, and two field houses, workout area, and running track. ARRES is a charitable organization that over looks the raising of local funds to help the continued development of the activity centre.
