Bert Church Charger Colton Jackson-McConnell has been chosen as a top 75 high school football prospect from across Canada.

This honour grants him participation in the Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) and The Sports Network (TSN) game in Ottawa on May 31.

Currently a Grade 10 student at Bert Church, he is excited to show off his skills at the featured game.

"Me and my family were ecstatic about it. Something like this doesn't happen all the time for Airdrie so it's really cool."

The selection process for the top 75 list involved a cross-country tour visiting ten cities, featuring professional combine settings with events such as the 40-yard dash, shuttle run, vertical jump, and broad jump.

Playing football for four years now it has become one of his favourite sports, he works out about four times a week including plyometrics with his high school team.

With the high school football season just around the corner, he is excited to wear the Chargers colours.

"I was out for the entire last season because of an injury. This next season I'm looking forward to making a massive impact in my league."

Jackson-McConnell hopes he can step up to be a team leader in his junior season and hopefully make a run for the Rocky View Schools Championship.

With the prospect game just around the corner, he is looking forward to helping put Airdrie on the map when it comes to football and putting my family's name out there as well.

In 2019, the inaugural CFC Prospect Game on TSN took place at the Stadium at TD Place, featuring 73 of Canada's top football prospects, 13 of whom went on to secure contracts with NCAA programs.

He finished off by saying he does hope to play post-secondary football, wherever it takes him with the hopes of eventually going pro.

Jackson-McConnell isn't the only Airdrie resident to make like and game, George McDougall Mustang Ryder Frampton also made the top 75 and was invited to the game.
