The Alberta Challenge concluded over the weekend and Airdrie's female hockey athletes showcased determination, talent, and grit.

The final game, which was the epitome of a true battle of Alberta saw the North Yellow taking on the South Green. The South Green team had three Airdrie players in its ranks, including Sophie Carter, Lyla Montoya, as well as Emersyn Allan.

The only goal in the game was scored halfway through the game, in the second period by the South Green team. Kat Nakama (Lethbridge) scored that goal for the team and even though the North Yellow did pull their goalie in the last few minutes of the game, they weren't able to find any opportunities to score.

South Green finished the tournament as the gold medal champions, while the game between South Black and South White, saw the South White win the bronze medal. They trounced their opponents 11-1. Alexis Ehrman played as goalie for the South White alongside  Jennifer Keller, while Kyla Pappas and goalie Ashlyn Cottreau were on the South Black team, as well as Ava Clavelle and Sara Gerdel.

The North Blue team was fourth in the ranking after they beat out North Grey 2-1.

The 2023 Spring Showcase continues with the Prospects Cup May 11-14.
