A virtual smorgasbord of agenda items is facing Airdrie City Council when they gather for their bi-monthly meeting today (April 19) starting at 3:30 pm.

The potential implications of allowing community groups to place Little Free Library boxes on city land will be presented by Manager of Parks and Public Works Archie Lang to council.

Council will be provided with a local improvement petition on Back Lane Paving that was received last summer but wasn't properly processed by staff within the deadlines set out by the Municipal Government Act.  They'll be asked to direct staff to prepare a local improvement plan in accordance with the act.

Today council will also receive a request from the people with the Airdrie and District Hospice Society that will ask that the week of May 3rd to 9th be proclaimed National Hospice and Palliative Care Week in the city.

Two items with 'mode of transportation' implications will also be discussed by council.  They'll be provided with correspondence suggesting the existing Airdrie pathway system in Southpoint at 40th Avenue be connected to the existing system at Country Hills Boulevard in Calgary, creating an accessible link for both commuter and recreational cyclists to use.

People with RVs in Airdrie might be interested in correspondence that will be presented to council from an Airdrie resident that will ask council to consider an amendment to the traffic bylaw to limit the size of RVs that can be parked in residential areas.

Those items, along with around 20 more items and sub-items are all on today's council agenda.
