The voting process is now open when it comes to the "Mr. Airdrie Memorial Award in Honour of Keith Wilkinson".

The voting period opened on November 20 and will close on November 30. The award was created in remembrance of Airdronian Keith Wilkinson who was a long-time volunteer within Airdrie but has sadly passed away.

The three nominees for the award are:

  • Ryan Middleton - One of the largest Airdrie advocates when it comes to EMS.
  • Wendy Contant - long-time volunteer helping out multiple organizations like the Airdrie Food Bank and Airdrie Health Foundation.
  • Mike Reist - long-time volunteer and founder of "Adopt-a-Grad Foundation"

Reist, who was one of the organizers setting up the selection process for the recipients of the award said he would be hands-off from now on as he is one of the nominees.

"I feel really honoured and humbled to be nominated, I really appreciate it," stated Reist.

While only one person can win the award, Reist stated that just being nominated is an amazing accomplishment for all three.

"Each one of us has our own special way of helping out the city, I'm sure all of us are proud to see what we do get recognized."

Details of who won the award and when the presentation will take place shortly after the closing of the voting period.
