Thursday Thunder Player of the Week is 21-year-old Justin LeGrandeur. This is the second time LeGrandeur has been selected this season.

From Airdrie, LeGrandeur grew up playing for teams in Airdrie like the Airdrie Lightning U15 AA, AC Avalanche U16 AAA and Airdrie Lightning U18 AA.

The Thunder suffered two big losses on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Thunder lost 4-2 to the Strathmore Wheatland Kings and 7-5 to the Mountainview Colts on Saturday.

On the season, the Thunder now have a 10-22-4 record as they make a final push for the playoffs.

LeGrandeur was selected for Thursday Thunder Player of the Week for his leadership and continuous effort, according to Thunder General Manager Shaun Guest.

On the season, he has 15 points, four goals and 11 assists in 22 games.

The Thunder now only have two games left in the regular season Both happening this weekend. Friday night the Red Deer Vipers come to town as the two teams will fight it out for the final playoff spot in the North Division. The game is 8:15 p.m. at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.

"It's a huge game for the boys. Probably our biggest one of the year to be honest. It's basically playoff hockey which is awesome."

While in his final year with the Thunder LeGrandeur is proud of how he played this season.

"I think it's gone pretty well when I have been able to play. It has been fun being able to hang out with the team.

LeGrandeur is currently going to school for Ironwork at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
