Today (July 18) a very different edition of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth comes to an end.

The Calgary Stampede in 2021 was a scaled-back, altered version of the event which regularly attracts over one million visitors a year.  This year, although the Stampede hasn't given out daily attendance figures, it's safe to say the crowds were less than half of that total.

However, the Stampede did go ahead, becoming one of the first large-scale events in Canada after pandemic restrictions were lifted in the province on Canada Day, just days before the Stampede got underway.

Today, Stampede organizers want to say "thank-you" to Calgary and area and celebrate the excitement and community spirit that it exhibited by offering free admission all day long for the show.

"We are humbled and grateful for the support we have received from our community," says Steve McDonough, President and Chairman of the Board of the Calgary Stampede.  "This celebration is for Calgarians, and we would like to invite everyone to ride with us one more time on Sunday."

So for this, the tenth day of the 2021 Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, you can head to the park for all the wild rides, the exotic foods, and the final fireworks celebration of the event with your friends and family and get into the show absolutely free of charge.
