Today was a special day for local hockey players as the 2024 Western Hockey League Prospect Draft took place.

Multiple hockey players from Airdrie and players who played hockey for the U15 AAA Airdrie Xtreme were selected.

Here are the players that were selected and what teams drafted them (R=Round and P=Pick):

  • R1 P3 - Aden Bouchard from Airdrie - Edge School U15 Prep - Tri-City Americans
  • R1 P11 - Brock England from Airdrie - Edge School U15 Prep - Seattle Thunderbirds
  • R1 P20 - Jordin St. Louis from Airdrie - Edge School U15 Prep - Portland Winterhawks
  • R2 P27 - Jensen Marsh from Cochrane - Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA - Edmonton Oil Kings
  • R2 P29 - Kale McCann from Cochrane - Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA - Calgary Hitmen
  • R2 P33 - Nathan Cole from Airdrie - Edge School U15 Prep - Kelowna Rockets
  • R3 P65 - Daniel Vaillant from Cochrane - Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA - Wenatchee Wild
  • R5 P100 - Seamus Dillon from Cochrane - Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA - Seattle Thunderbirds
  • R9 P184 - Zane Rains from Cochrane - Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA - Spokane Chiefs
  • R14 P289 - Lucas Jacobson from Banff - Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA - Lethbridge Hurricanes

  • R1 P19 - Mirco Dufour from Rocky View County - Edge School U15 Prep - Everett Silvertips
  • R6 P121 - Brock Dingman from Carstairs - Red Deer U15 AAA Rebels - Vancouver Giants
  • R9 P187 - Braeden Malenchak from Rocky View County - Yale Hockey Academy U15 Prep - Vancouver Giants
  • R9 P197 - Nixon Mah from Rocky View County - Calgary NWCAA U15 AAA Flames - Portland Winterhawks

Last year, local players like Riley Boychuk, Aaron Sawatzky, Bennet Kelley and Caelan Joudrey were selected in the draft
