Airdrie RCMP confirmed that a 15-year-old youth was transported to the Children's Hospital after they had been struck by a vehicle earlier Monday morning.

The youth's injuries were classified as non-life threatening and added that drugs and/or alcohol are not considered to be factors in the incident.

Mounties did remind both motorists and cyclists that with warmer, weather it's imperative that everyone obey the rules of the road and be cognizant that roads will be busier with summer on the way.

The collision between the youth cyclist and a vehicle occurred in the vicinity of Prairie Springs Drive and 8th Street. Emergency crews attended the scene, but have since cleared the area.
