Today is Giving Tuesday and Davis Chevrolet GMC Buick made a contribution to five of Airdrie's local charities, in honour of the day to give back to local communities.

The Airdrie organizations that received a $10,000 donation included the Airdrie Food Bank, Airdrie Meals on Wheels, Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie, Community Links and Airdrie and District Victims Assistance Society.

Brittney Horvath, the Marketing Manager for Davis Chevrolet GMC Buick, talked about why the business feels that the donations are so important for them and the five different organizations.

"Davis Chevrolet has always been about giving back to our community for people who need it. So we decided a few years ago that we take part in this and try and get the word out in our community.'

For Horvath, it means a lot to her to see the place she works at donate money to organizations that help make Airdrie a better place.

"I've worked at other places that don't give this much. Coming here and being able to do this and being able to meet all of these people, it just feels really good."

Last year, Davis Chevrolet also donated $50,000 to the same organizations.

Brenda Hume, the Executive Director of Community Links explained donations like these really help out.

"We're very grateful for what they are able to provide for us. Davis Chevrolet has been a huge long-term supporter of us."

Community Links plans on using the funds to support the families, children and seniors in our community.

Giving Tuesday is a national movement that highlights the need for charitable giving in Canada and puts a focus or spotlight on key core charities.
