Today is Giving Tuesday and Davis Chevrolet GMC Buick made a hefty contribution to five of Airdrie's local charities. The local organizations that received donations include the Airdrie Food Bank, Airdrie Meals on Wheels, Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie, North Rocky View Community Links and Airdrie and District Victims Assistance Society.

Glenn Smaha, Managing Partner at Davis Chevrolet, said donating to charity is a big part of who they are.

"Recognizing these five charities that we've seen over the years, are at the core of everything, all the positive things that are happening in the city when it comes to people in need and things that they provide."

Smaha also said with everything happening in the world right now, the need is tremendous.

"We need to put the money where it can do the most."

When talking with members from Community Links, including Dirk Bannister, Laurie Jacob-Toews and Monica Guzzwell they were more than excited about the donations being made.

"There is nothing better than feeling the community support for all the charities within our surrounding area. But to see businesses like Davis step up, it fills your heart," stated Guzzwell.

When asked about where the funds will go, Jacob-Toews mentioned they will go towards whichever programs needs the funds the most.

Bannister also said, "it's absolutely wonderful that businesses support us as they do in Airdrie. It makes Airdrie a great place to live."

According to Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown, council will have a discussion about proclaiming the day for Giving Tuesday next year.
