Some numbers changed, some didn't.
In the past 24 hours, Alberta Health Services identified 516 new cases of COVID-19 from 12,388 tests. This brings the provincial total of active COVID-19 cases to 6,515. Yesterday, the province had 6,693 active COVID cases.
There are now 677 Albertans in the hospital due to COVID-19 with 146 Albertans in intensive care. Yesterday, these numbers were 657 and 155 respectively.
As for Alberta schools, there are active alerts or outbreaks in 184 schools. Of these, 4 schools are on outbreak status. To see a full list of Alberta school alerts or outbreaks CLICK HERE.
In the City of Airdrie, there are currently 122 active cases of COVID-19. This is the same number of active cases Airdrie had yesterday.
The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Rocky View County is 69, which remains unchanged from yesterday's number of active cases in the county.
Effective November 8, the following Albertans may now book an appointment for a third dose booster vaccine:
- Any Albertan aged 70 or older
- Any First Nation, Metis, or Inuit person over the age of 18
- Albertans 12 and older considered "high risk" with immunocompromising health conditions
- Front-line healthcare workers who received their first two doses less than eight weeks apart
- Albertans who received two doses of AstraZeneca or one dose of Jansen while abroad
Eligible immunocompromising conditions include:
- Recipients of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T-cell therapy
- Moderate to severe primary immunodeficiency (for example, DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
- Stage 3 or advanced HIV infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome
- Immunosuppressive therapies (for example, anti-B cell therapies, high-dose systemic corticosteroids, alkylating agents, antimetabolites, or tumor-necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors and other biologic agents)
- Transplant recipients, including solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplants
- Chronic kidney disease receiving regular dialysis
- Receiving active cancer treatment (chemotherapy, immunotherapy or targeted therapies), excluding those receiving only hormonal therapy, radiation therapy, or surgery
- Taking certain medications for autoimmune diseases including rituximab, ocrelizumab, and ofatumumab
