51-year-old dead in collision Southeast of Airdrie

A 51-year-old man is dead after a fatal collision between an SUV and a van on Highway 564 and Range Road 285, Southeast of Airdrie. 

Mounties were called to the collision on Monday evening at approximately 5:39 p.m.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that an SUV travelling southbound on Range Road 285 entered the intersection and collided with a Van travelling eastbound on Highway 564."

The driver of the van was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the driver of the SUV was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene and there were road closures for several hours. Highway 564 at Range Road 285 is now open.

RCMP continues to investigate.
