Petro Canada locations across Western Canada are feeling the affects of the Fort McMurray Wildfires.

Due to the disruption in production caused by the blazes, Suncor is being forced to prioritize its fuel supplying.

"The cummulitive impact of the fires in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, and an unplanned unit outage at our Edmonton refinery, has meant there is an unavoidable impact on our ability to produce what we would normally produce in terms of gas and diesel." said Suncor Spokesperson Sneh Satell.

Although the supply of both gas and diesel are compromised, gas is taking the bigger hit as the refineries affected produced mostly gasoline.

"We are looking to maintain supply at critical locations, and critical locations would be those in areas where there are limited or no other options for fueling." said Satell.

Satell says one of the priortized zones is Fort McMurray, where Suncor hopes to aid in resident's return home.

"We want to support the return of that community to their home, and so we are working to maintain adequte supplies to the Petro Canada stations in that area."

As of June 4th, Petro Canada stations specifically in the Airdrie area were out of fuel.
