If you are searching for a job, or a student who's now looking to enter the workforce, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

Prospect Human Services is hosting two spring job fairs, one in Airdrie and one in Cochrane. The Airdrie job fair is taking place April 10 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Genesis Place while the Cochrane job fair is taking place tomorrow at Spray Lakes Sawmills Centre also from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Heidi Lane who works for Prospect Human Services stated all you have to do is show up with a few resumes and be willing to hand them out.

"In today's digital landscape, it's pretty rare to get the opportunity to meet with a bunch of actively hiring employers face to face."

Lane stated this is the perfect opportunity to meet with different hiring employers face-to-face.

"You can make a good impression and make that face-to-face connection that'll kind of give you an advantage."

During the job fair, there will be a few courses that will be running at the top of the hour giving some employment-focused tips.

"We will have workshops based on resume-building and interview tips. We'll also have a booth where we will be giving five-minute resume reviews."

Lane went on to share her top three tips when it comes to finding a job.

  1. Follow up with the employer after you apply for the job.
  2. Mention your skills and experience if you have any in a role you are applying for.
  3. Be yourself. At the end of the day, you want to be a part of an organization that's a good fit for you and vice versa.

"If you know an employer that you are really keen on working for definitely prepare a cover letter in advance if you show that you had the forethought to put that extra effort in. I think employers love to see that."

According to the city of Airdrie website, our city has a fast-growing workforce of 48,000 people.
