Airdrie and District Hospice Society held their Stampede for Hospice on Saturday, July 16th.

Participants walked and ran in support of the ADHS, which aims to help those affected by life altering medical conditions.

Charlotte Allen, a member and volunteer of the ADHS, says she got involved to help a friend.

"They needed some marketing support so I got on board and have been here ever since."

Both 1km and 5km routes were offered at East Lake Park, with registration starting at 8:45a.m.

Registration cost $25 a person or $40 a family, with 100% of all funds raised remaining in the community.

Some of those who registered received a free t-shirt.

The ADHS was founded in the fall of 2009, by a few concerned citizens in Airdrie, who identified the need to improve palliative care and support in the community.

One of the ADHS's biggest concerns is their lack of a office location, which they are hoping to change.

Running Room helped make the event happen, with registration available right up until the morning of the event.
