A 46 year old male driver has been charged with impaired driving after a concerned citizen called 911.

On Sunday, August 14, Airdrie RCMP were notified that a Dodge Caravan was driving all over the road going Southbound on Highway 2.

RCMP intercepted the vehicle on the highway near Yankee Valley Blvd. after witnessing the driver driving erratically.

The RCMP arrested the male from Calgary and transported him to the Airdrie RCMP detachment where he provided a breath sample that was nearly 3.5 times the legal limit.

"The concerning nature of this impaired is that three children under the age of 10 were in the vehicle at the time of the offense," said Cst. Matt Gervais. "All three children were returned to a family member following the arrest of the driver."

The driver has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving over 80mg%, he will appear in the Airdrie Provincial Court later this month.

"This is another great example of citizens calling 911 after noticing unusual driving behavior to help remove another impaired driver from our roadway."
