An Airdrie man is facing over 15 charges after an armed robbery in the town of Millet, south of Edmonton.

Wetaskiwin RCMP said three men, two of them with firearms, entered the Rexall Drug Store in the town last Tuesday.

The men stole over $3,000 worth of prescription drugs before splitting up.

Police later arrested one man after he attempted to flee from police. Officers eventually used a tire deflation device to stop the car before arresting the man.

RCMP believe the same suspect also started a small bush fire in Wetaskiwin County after the robbery.

Cst. Shaun Marchand of the Wetaskiwin RCMP said they were able to find the car after some residents noticed something suspicious.

"The success in locating and arresting the accused and providing critical information for this investigation has everything to do with members of the public recognizing something was out of places in three separate occasions."

A 19-year-old man from Airdrie has now been charged with 19 offences including robbery, arson, mischief and possessing a dangerous weapon.

Police are still looking for the other two men involved in the robbery.
