During Monday's city council meeting, the 2019 Citizen Satisfaction Survey results were presented, and the results found most Airdronians rate their quality of life as good or very good.

Ryan Johnson, an analyst in the strategic business services department with the city says the survey is a kind of report card for the city.

"We do this survey annually. It's sort of a pulse check on citizen satisfaction with services we provide and sort of acts as a report card for how we're doing with delivering services and give the residents an opportunity to voice any of their top issues or concerns or things they want us to focus on with our next planning cycle."

94% of Airdrie's population who participated in the survey said that their quality of life was good or very good, a percentage that Johnson is very proud of.

"We love seeing that number up in the 90s like that. I'm a resident as well and I love living here and I'm very proud to live in Airdrie," says Johnson. "We're really proud of that statistic, especially with the rapid growth we've experienced over the last few years. We're pretty proud to have a quality of life rating that high."

Issues were also presented within the survey, says Johnson.

"The most important issues that were identified were definitely the infrastructure like traffic, roads, and train tracks, and rapid growth management. They were numbers one and two as the most important issues."

With a high quality of life, Johnson says that citizens also find Airdrie a very safe place to live.

"91% consider Airdrie an overall safe place to live, 99 during the day."

The survey presented information on various services the city provides and how satisfied the services left citizens.

"Fire is consistently been number one with our citizens. They like our fire department that's for sure."

"Lowest is Airdrie transit at 45%, but it did experience a significant increase this year."

All in all, most citizens that live in Airdrie would suggest the city as a home for friends and family.

"We have a pretty high percentage of residents that have lived here from 1-5 years and 77% would recommend Airdrie as a place to live."
