A member of the Airdrie Xtreme is an all-star in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League.

Forward Noah Edstrom has been named to the South Division squad that will face off Saturday, January 12th in Fort Saskatchewan against the North Division in the league's all-star game.

Edstrom is in his first year with the Xtreme and has racked up 10 goals and 3 assists in 19 games.

Xtreme Head Coach Reid Hnatowich says Edstrom has worked hard for this recognition.

"Noah is an individual with an outstanding work ethic and outstanding focus on his growth and development.  He's a guy I had the pleasure of working with over the past couple of years during the offseason.  I've seen him grow not just as a hockey player but as an individual over these past couple of years.  The kid works his tail off every single rep, every single shift, every single game."

Hnatowich feels that Edstrom has elevated his game to the point where people notice him every time he steps on the ice.

"Over these past few months his game has shaped and evolved from being one of those middle of the pack players now to being an overall dominant guy and one of the most noticeable guys on either team, whether the opponent or on ours."

Hnatowich says the effort that Edstrom puts in is what got him noticed by the all-star team coaching staff.

"The Red Deer Rebels coaching staff, we played them and even though they beat us 4 - 1 that game and had a pretty dominant effort that game, they noticed Noah stood out for the right reasons and that's kind of how he came about being selected."

Hnatowich believes the all-star selection comes with a respect factor from the rest of the league for Edstrom.

"It comes with a high level of attention on himself.  He's going into that game not only representing himself, he's representing the Airdrie Xtreme, he's representing the AMBHL, and he's representing the south as a team there.  It's a big responsibility but it's one that is a unique and cool opportunity for him and it's one that I'm confident he can handle."
