Beginning on Thursday, and lasting till Sunday, an area in the Bow Valley Provincial Park will be shut down, but it's not because of weather or wildlife.

According to the Alberta Parks website, the Grotto Mountain Day Use Area, Grotto Pond and Grotto Creek Canyon Trail will be shut down to due active film production in the area.

"Access will be restricted to licensed guiding operators only.,"

There are no details on what film or series may be shot in the area, but film crews are not exactly a foreign site in Alberta. Last week, north of Airdrie, the Town of Didsbury announced that parts of the town were also going to be shut down due to filming

According to the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) Alberta Chapter, there are plenty of films and series that are either shooting in and around our region or wrapping up. Some Calgary-area shoots include:

  • The Little Girl Who Wasn’t There, which is scheduled to be shot between March 22 and April 15
  • Abracadavers - Season 3, which is scheduled to be shot on April 14 and May 27
  • Vengeance wrapped shooting last week
