Tomorrow, Samaritan’s Purse will transport one of its Emergency Field Hospitals to Calgary to increase Samaritan’s Purse Canada’s capacity to launch international life-saving medical responses.

The tent facility will be transported to the Calgary International Airport via the International Christian Relief Organization's DC-8 and 757 Cargo planes.

"This hospital is a historic moment in the history of Samaritan's Purse Canada, but it's also a historic moment within the Canadian emergency response industry. Having these sorts of resources available and able to deploy from Canada, is something that we ought to be very proud of both as Airdronians, Calgarians, and Canadians," stated Airdrie resident Brent Davis, director of Canadian Ministry Projects at Samaritan’s Purse Canada.

The hospital will be strategically located within the Samaritan’s Purse Canada warehouse and feature customizable units equipped with an emergency room, laboratory, surgical facilities, and comprehensive care amenities for inpatient and outpatient services during international crises.

Since its first deployment to Ecuador in 2016, the Samaritan’s Purse Emergency Field Hospital has been sent out over 20 times, delivering vital medical assistance to tens of thousands of patients in disaster-affected regions such as Ukraine, Turkey, and Iraq.

Since its establishment in 1973, Samaritan’s Purse Canada has delivered crucial aid globally, offering essentials like food, water, and temporary shelter to those affected by war, poverty, disease, and natural disasters.

During the 2023 edition of Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Airdronians donated 2,585 shoeboxes full of Christmas gifts for kids in Central America.

"We were thrilled, delighted and so grateful to the Airdrie residents and residents of all of Rocky View County for how they stepped up this year to help children in need," stated Frank King, News Media Relations Manager for Samaritan’s Purse Canada.

2023 Airdrie numbers were an increase of 26 per cent from the 2,041 shoeboxes in 2022.
