The road team finally came up with a win last night (March 16) in the Northern Division Final of the Heritage Junior Hockey League.

The only problem for the Airdrie Thunder was, they were the home team.

The Red Deer Vipers blanked the Thunder 5 - 0 last night to win the best of seven Northern Final in six games.  All five of the previous games had been won by the home team.

The game deteriorated into a chippy affair once the final outcome wasn't in doubt.  A total of seven fighting majors were handed out and seven misconducts were given, including one gross misconduct.

Red Deer will now face the South Division winners, the Coaldale Copperheads, in a best of three series for the league championship.

No dates have been set by the league.
