Ty Rattie is hoping this is his year.

Rattie opened up the Edmonton Oilers main camp along with 61 other players, 7 goaltenders, 19 defencemen and 36 forwards.  The players are undergoing medical and fitness testing today (September 13).  On ice sessions with Head Coach Todd McLellan and his staff start tomorrow.

In an interview with reporters just before camp got underway, the 25-year-old Rattie said he's hoping to be on the same line as he ended last season on, with Oilers stars Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

"Every single player in the world wants to play on the right side of that line.  If I'm lucky enough to get that chance to start camp then I need to take full advantage of it.  I can't give it up and I can't take a shift off.  Like I said, if I do get the chance to start off, I'm going to do whatever I can to never let it go."

Rattie finished last season with the Oilers after being called up from the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League, a team he was the leading scorer for at the time.  Rattie finished strong with the big club, scoring five goals and adding four assists in 14 games with the Oilers, playing with McDavid and Nugent-Hopkins.

The Oilers play their first pre-season game as a full squad on Monday, September 17th when they face the Flames in Calgary.
