Two Airdrie players were involved in the Western Hockey League (WHL) playoffs last night (March 27).  One of them has advanced to the second round in four straight while the other is having a pretty fair fight.

Gary Haden and the Saskatoon Blades disposed of the Moose Jaw Warriors, winning last night's contest 4 - 3 in overtime for a four-game sweep.  Haden picked up his second assist of the post-season in the win.  The Blade will meet the Prince Albert Raiders in the second round.

Jake Neighbours and his Edmonton Oil Kings meanwhile are getting some severe pushback out of the Medicine Hat Tigers.  The Oil Kings were blanked 5 - 0 last night which evens the series at two wins apiece.  Game five goes Friday night in Edmonton.

Two more games scheduled tonight involve area players.  Zachary Cox from Balzac and the Lethbridge Hurricanes are in Calgary to face the Hitmen.  Lethbridge jumped out to a 2 - 0 lead in that series but Calgary took the last game to make it close.

Cochrane's Connor Bouchard and his Tri-City Americans will be trying to get back on even terms on home ice tonight when they host the Everett Silvertips.  Everett leads that series two games to one.
