The two best teams during the Heritage Junior Hockey League regular season square off in the fight for league supremacy tonight (March 22) in Airdrie.

The North champion Airdrie Thunder who breezed through the season with a 35 and 3 record entertain the South champion Coaldale Copperheads who finished the regular season with a 29 - 7 and 2 record at the Ron Ebbesen Arena starting at 8:00 pm.

Airdrie made it past Blackfalds in a three-game series sweep before facing off with the Mountainview Colts in a series that, perhaps surprisingly, went to six games before Airdrie prevailed.

Coaldale went the opposite route.  In their opening series, they had to go to overtime in the seventh game before eliminating the Medicine Hat Cubs.  They then met the Cochrane Generals and disposed of them in five games.

The final series is a best of five affair.  Game two goes tomorrow night at 7:30 pm in Coaldale.  The third game is back in Airdrie on Tuesday night.

Games four and five, if necessary, will be played Saturday, March 30th in Coaldale and Sunday, March 31st in Airdrie.
