City, RCMP to crack down on loud vehicles and speeding
Airdrie Municipal Enforcement, together with Airdrie RCMP, is rolling out a focused enforcement campaign to tackle rising concerns about loud vehicles, speeding, and improper vehicle equipment across the city. "The joint operation will focus on identified hot spots across Airdrie, including areas such as 8 Street and Kings Heights, where residents have reported increased incidents of disruptive driving behaviour," shared the City of Airdrie. They also shared that enforcement teams will be conducting strategic patrols and roadside inspections over the coming weeks to ensure compliance with municipal bylaws and provincial traffic legislation. “Our goal is to reduce noise pollution, improve road safety, and ensure vehicles on our streets meet legal standards,” said Brad Tomlinson, team leader of Municipal Enforcement. “We’re responding directly to community concerns and working collaboratively with the RCMP to make Airdrie safer and more livable.” According to the city, the operation will include: Noise testing using calibrated sound meters Speed enforcement in high-risk areas Inspection of vehicle modifications and equipment compliance Public education and awareness efforts “This joint operation is a proactive step toward reducing dangerous driving behaviours and enhancing community safety,” said Airdrie RCMP Staff Sergeant Chris Zanidean. “The RCMP work closely with Airdrie Municipal Enforcement to make our roads and neighbourhoods safer places for everyone.” Residents can report traffic or noise concerns anytime by calling Airdrie Municipal Enforcement’s 24-hour complaint line at 403-948-8888 or the RCMP’s non-emergency line at 403-945-7267.
