Construction is once again underway in Nose Cree Park. For residents who frequently visit the park, you might have noticed that construction is taking place at two different spots. Two more bridges are being replaced this year.

Ryan Couillard, a Project Manager for the City of Airdrie, explained construction started June 14 and is scheduled to be completed in September.

"The first bridge being replaced is somewhat adjacent to the amphitheatre on the east side of the pond. The other bridge being replaced is at the north end of the park."

Last summer, three bridges throughout the park were replaced, this year they are doing two more, next year two more and in 2026 two more. One of those replaced in 2026 is just south of Yankee Valley Boulevard.

"These bridges were very near the end of their life. Trying to fix the bridges was not cost-effective, so replacing them is the better option."

According to Couillard, the new bridges are longer than the old ones and do not affect the waterway. Couillard explained he had heard good things when asked about how residents have responded to the bridges that were replaced last year.

"I think the pedestrians seem to enjoy those bridges. It's been a good addition to the to the amenity space."

Couillard does ask residents to please be patient while construction is underway and some bridges are blocked off.

"It's detailed work, it takes time, and they're (EllisDon) doing their best to open these pathways up for everybody to use and enjoy again."

Nose Creek Regional Park offers 20 acres of natural area in the heart of the downtown core.
