Airdrie Goaltender Kurtis Chapman is the British Columbia Hockey League’s Player of The Week.

The former CFR Bisons MVP helped backstop the Victoria Grizzlies to an unprecedented comeback in the first round of the playoffs against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs had a hold on the Grizzlies after taking a three games to none lead in their best of seven series.

Chapman was placed in net in game three and despite losing that game in overtime he was lights out for the rest of the series, as the Grizzlies came back to force a seventh and deciding game.

Chapman shut the door in that game, only just one goal as the Grizzlies completed the comeback and won game seven and the series with a 3-1 victory.

During his five games in goal, Chapman allowed just five goals in the four wins and currently has the second highest save percentage in the playoffs at .953.

Chapman continues his playoff success in Junior-A Hockey after leading the Portage Terriers to the MJHL title last season.

The Grizzlies will have a rush of momentum heading into the second round of the playoffs as they meet the Powell River Kings.

Game One of that series goes Friday night (March 16th) in Victoria.
