The Canadian Team Cattle Penning National Finals are over and what a weekend it was!

The competition held a variety of different classes allowing competitors a couple of opportunities to battle it out for the Finals.

Kent Hillard, President of the Canadian Team Cattle Penning Association, says the turnout this year posted a new record for the National Finals.

"I think it went really, really well especially for having such a big record sized show. 1249 teams, and I think 350 different competitors. We're quite pleased with how it went."

The competition had over 300 competitors including locals such as Ben and Tom Thorlakson, Cam Clark, Wendy Wenaas, Lena Fleurie, Heidi Richardson, Bruce Stewart, Kurt Robson, and Jen Fleming.

Tom Thorlakson and his team members Ron Scott and Dusty Wigemyr ranked 1st in the Open Shootout Finals with a combined time of 103.760 and 9 pennings.

Kurt Robson and his teammates, Amanda Goodwin and Dusty Wigemyr, ranked 1st in the 14 Class, which gave them a win totalling over $22,000.00.

The payout for this year's competition was over $500,000 and the National Finals marks the final competition of the year for the Canadian Team Cattle Penning Association.
