The Red Deer Vipers used a big second and third period to dump the Mountainview Colts in Heritage Junior Hockey League play last night (November 29).

The Vipers scored five second period goals and added three more in the third to crush the Colts 8 - 2.

With the win, Red Deer overtakes Airdrie and moves into first place in the Northern Division of the HJHL.

The Vipers now have 27 points, one more than the Thunder, and hold two games in hand over Airdrie.

Airdrie plays a pair of games this weekend.  Tomorrow night they host the Okotoks Bisons, who hold down first place in the Southern Divison, at 8:00 pm at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.

Sunday the Thunder travel to Medicine Hat to face the Cubs.

Red Deer only has one weekend contest.  On Saturday night they'll host the Cochrane Generals.
