The 6th Annual 'Treecycle' happens this weekend in Airdrie. Bring your Christmas tree to City Hall and  volunteers will turn it into mulch for Iron Horse Park, run by a non-profit society. Scott Pulvermacher with the event does want to make one thing clear: you don't need a real tree to enjoy the event.

Each tree taken in equates to $9 for the Airdrie Food Bank but whether you have a tree or not, a simple food or cash donation is all you require to be eligible for a fine gift basket.

Treecycle 2012 features a silent auction with some terrific items. All proceeds go to the Food Bank. The event happens Saturday from 10-5 and Sunday from 11-5. Two years ago they raised over $8,000 and they hope to raise $10,000 for this year's effort. Each dollar donation to the Food Bank means they can buy $4 worth of goods. Pulvermacher knows Airdrie is generous enough to help them reach the milestone.

Here, he talks about the many merchants and groups who've helped with Treecycle 2012.
