The Heritage Junior Hockey League season is off to a great start for the Airdrie Thunder.

Jacob MacDonald scored a pair of goals and Zachary Giroux chipped in three assists to lead the Thunder to a 4 - 1 win over the Blackfalds Wranglers last night (September 22) at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.

Brendan Davidson and Jacob Gillespie scored the other goals for Airdrie  who won the game despite being outshot 39 - 32.   Ryan Simpson got the win in goal for Airdrie who play their first road game of the young season tonight when they travel to Three Hills to play the Thrashers.

Three Hills is coming off a 5 - 2 loss last night in their season opener with Stettler.

Things didn't go so well for the Cochrane Generals who took it on the chin losing 10 - 3 to the Oilers in Okotoks in their first game of the season.

The Generals will look for a better performance tonight when they travel to Strathmore to play the Wheatland Kings.
