It took eight games but the Airdrie Techmation Thunder finally have their first win of the Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) season, and it was a come-from-behind win to boot.

Kyran Gromnisky scored his third and fourth goals of the year to lead the Thunder to a 3 - 2 win over the Thrashers in Three Hills last night (October 14).   Ryder Terpstra also scored for Airdrie.  The win gives the Thunder a 1 - 7 record this season and leaves the Ponoka Stampeders as the last winless team in the HJHL at 0 - 8.

The end of the losing streak wasn't looking promising for the Thunder last night.  Orrin Armstrong's goal gave the Thrashers a 1 - 0 lead after the first.  Just over six minutes into the second period Three Hills increased their lead to 2 - 0 on a goal from Porter Pennock.  The comeback started when Gromnisky scored his first of the game on a power play with just over two minutes to go in the second period.  It was completed with his second of the night with just over five minutes remaining in the game.

Josh Feddema blocked 34 of the 36 shots he faced while Airdrie fired 48 shots at Jacob Aellen in the Three Hills goal.

The Thunder return home to host their North Division rival Mountainview Colts on Friday night.  The Colts have a 4-2-1 record, good for a first-place tie in the North with Sylvan Lake.  The Wranglers have a game in hand.

Face-off for the Colts-Thunder game is at 8:00 pm.
