It's week two of the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg and three Airdrie athletes are preparing to start competition.

Today (August 7) 18 year old Ryan Zachary will take to the volleyball court with Team Alberta when they take on Newfoundland and Labrador starting at noon our time.  Zachary, an outside hitter, played on the W.H. Croxford High School volleyball team and was part of the first graduating class at the school this year.

Para-swimmer Alex Sharpe will be active in the Canada Games pool this week.  The 15 year old member of the Nose Creek Swim Association says his primary goal at the games is to make the final in the 400 freestyle.

The third Airdronian involved in week two of the games is 18 year soccer player Sam Gagne.

Gagne and Team Alberta will take to the field at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex tomorrow night at 6:00 pm our time for their first game against Prince Edward Island.  Alberta is in Group C which also includes Team Ontario.  Gagne plays with the Calgary Foothills soccer club.

Last week, Ayden Makarus made Airdrie proud by winning a bronze medal in baseball.

The Canada Summer Games wrap up Sunday, August 13th.
