An open casting call for indigenous men and women has been announced for a filmed-in-Alberta movie recently.

According to a social media post by Keep Alberta Rolling, the casting call will be held on Saturday, February 25 at the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino.

The film, Wind River: The Next Chapter is a sequel to the 2017 movie Wind River. The 2017 movie, a crime/drama, starring Jeremy Renner (The Avengers) and Elizabeth Olsen (Doctor Stranger) centred around a hunter who helped an FBI agent investigate the murder of a young woman on a Wyoming Native American reservation.

Castle Rock Entertainment is producing the sequel to the award-nominated original, with Emmy-nominated director, Kari Skogland heading the project. The sequel will follow the mystery surrounding a series of ritualistic murders. Filming across Alberta is set to begin in April 2023.

This most recent announcement follows a spate of other star-studded film productions that are coming to Alberta this spring, including a shot-in-Alberta film, The Order, which will star Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) and Nicholas Hoult, who most recently starred in black-comedy horror, The Menu.
