The Nose Creek Swim Association is gearing up for another full season in the pool.

140 competitive swimmers and 145 non-competitive swimmers are enrolled in the winter program that has swimmers practicing in both Airdrie and Calgary.

David Loyola, Head Coach said due to a limited number of lanes they are not able to accommodate every practice locally.

"The only problem that we have is that we don't currently have enough pool space or pool lanes to put them in, so the City of Airdrie and ourselves are always running at capacity."

With the success of Canadian swimmers at the summer games, Loyola said that there has been an influx of calls from parents looking to get their kids involved in the sport.

"We've had about an average of 10 calls and emails a day trying to get into our program and parents trying to get their kids into swimming, so it's pretty exciting."

In order to grow the club, Loyola said that they would need more pool space which is hard to come by right now.

There have been conversations between the city and Loyola regarding the addition of a new pool within the Rocky View District, but at this time there is nothing in the works.

"We're swimming on average with the number of lanes, we have 6 lanes available in Airdrie and we're swimming over 6000 people per lane based on our population."

Although Loyola's hands are tied when it comes to growing the club, he is looking forward to the energy the swimmers will bring to the pool in September.
