There's fast, and then there's unbelievably fast.

Last night (July 23) steer wrestler Straws Milan of Cochrane was unbelievably fast on his run at the K-Days Rodeo in Edmonton.

Milan tied the all time Canadian steer wrestling record by throwing his steer in 2.9 seconds to win the night.

Milan joins Ralph Nelson, Darby Roy and David Gibson as the only steer wrestlers in Canada to go under three seconds.  Gibson was the last cowboy to do so in 1994, 23 years ago.

Other area performers didn't fare as well during the second performance.  Tie Down Roper Kyle Lucas from Carstairs had a reasonably good run at 9.2 but that was good enough only for eighth place on the night.

Team Ropers Klay Whyte of Airdrie and Steele Depaoli of Longview finished ninth with a 10.1 run.

The final performance of the K-Days Rodeo goes tonight at 6:30 pm.  Straws' brother Tanner Milan will be out in Steer Wrestling and Airdrie's Jake Vold has drawn the horse Black Feathers in the Bareback Riding.

Spur Lacasse who now calls Airdrie home is also out in bareback on a horse named Pilsner Power.
