An Airdrie resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, reached out to Christine Taylor and donated over $450 dollars, so that she may buy her son a replacement e-scooter.

Last weekend, Taylor, who had posted a plea to fellow Airdronians to keep an eye out for her son's e-scooter that was stolen out of the family's garage, had not expected this fortuitous turn of events. Initially, her social media post was only meant to spread the word about the incident.

"So, this was overwhelming and it did bring tears to my eyes. I'm just so grateful. Our community is amazing," she said. "Something I say to my kids all the time is you have to find the rainbow in your day. Sometimes that's a very, very small thing if you're having a rough day. But there's always a rainbow in your day and I feel that so much with the Airdrie."

The individual was prompted by an article Discover Airdrie wrote, saying that this is what motivated them to reach out to Taylor.

"Wouldn't have happened without your post," the individual wrote.

Taylor's 16-year-old son who is autistic had been given the scooter as a gift by his grandparents as a reward for his achievements in school.

"He had an amazing amount of success doing online learning and he's continued to do that, after the pandemic. This [e-scooter] was just an absolute reward for his incredible work, [especially] when things are unbelievably hard for him," she said in a previous interview.

She added that her son does not yet know about this, but she did confirm she is shopping for one.

"I'll just tell him that there was a really generous, generous [individual] who stepped up. I would shout his name to the rooftops but he wants to be anonymous. They know who they are. and I will always think of them fondly."

Taylor works with the Airdrie Food Bank and said that while Airdrie is indeed a city, gestures like this, as well as gestures she sees at the Food Bank, are what make Airdrie not only feel like a small town but feel like home.

"People are there to help and that's what community is all about."
