The Airdrie Irish can look back with pride on a breakthrough season in the Alberta Football League.

The Irish had several firsts this year, including the first time they've finished with a .500 record when they accomplished a four and four regular season, and the first time they advanced to the playoffs.

They might not consider that playoff game to be one of the highlights of the season though.  The Irish were in St. Alberta last night to face the Stars in the AFL quarter finals and lost decisively 56 - 2, ending their 2017 season.

The Stars now have the unenviable task of facing the defending league and national champion Fort McMurray Monarchs in the semi finals next weekend.

For the Irish, it's time to pack up the equipment and reflect on a good year for the team.
