Sandy Henry will return as head coach with the CFR Chemical Bisons for the 2016/2017 season.

The Bisons made the announcement following uncertainty on whether or not Henry would return.

“As our search went on Sandy came to us and said he may be interested in taking it on for another year, and we were excited at that opportunity.” said Bisons GM, Wayne Hansen.

Henry has been behind the bench with the Bisons for 4 seasons, and this will be his second as head coach.

The Bisons are hoping he can lead them to the Telus Cup in April, as he was involved in the Bisons first ever trip their in 2015.

Registration has also opened for the 2nd Annual Markus Lavallee Memorial Hockey Tournament.

The friendly tournament will feature non-contact scrimmages, in memory of former Bison Markus Lavallee, who passed away in a car accident in 2015.

This tournament allows players the opportunity to refine their skills in a competitive environment prior to the start of their respective hockey tryouts.

Space is limited to 6 teams of 15 skaters and 2 goalies, with registration closing July 31.

Teams can register on the CFR Chemical Bisons Website.
