Cobble Flats was the scene of a single motorcycle fatality accident over the weekend.

Saturday night, shortly after 7:30, Cochrane RCMP attended the scene along Highway 66, just south of Bragg Creek. EMS were already on scene, and STARS air ambulance was en route. The 43 year old male driver from Calgary was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation determined that the motorcyclist had been traveling east bound on highway 66 and left the roadway, entering the south ditch. There were no witnesses to the collision. The cause of the accident is undetermined at this time and is still under investigation. It does not appear that speed or alcohol were factors in this incident.

The deceased was traveling with 2 other motorcyclists, who had gone ahead of him. When the other 2 noted that the deceased was no longer with them, they retraced their route and came upon the crash. One rider stayed with the injured driver while the other had to drive 4 -5 kms to reach an area that had cell service in order to call for help.

RCMP were advised that the deceased was an experienced motorcycle operator. The name of the deceased will not be released.
