On Thursday evening, Calgary police said that a police incident that began late on Wednesday evening, had been resolved and access to the city's core had been restored.

Hours earlier, Calgary police stated that while the Fifth Avenue Flyover in the city's downtown has been re-opened, other closures remained, including a closure of the Reconciliation Bridge and the Fourth Avenue Flyover remain closed.

"The road closures remain in effect & we continue to ask the public to avoid the area & to plan alternate routes on your evening commute to ensure emergency crews have the space to work," police state in an update on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Earlier in the day police said that the incident was due to a 'person experiencing a mental health crisis'.

Police said that the man has since been transported to the hospital, while an investigation is ongoing and charges may be pending.
