Airdrie's Ty Rattie hopes to crack the lineup with the St. Louis Blues this season.

Following the departure of several key players, Rattie will join a team in transition when he reports to training camp September 17th.

"Obviously when you lose veteran guys like Backes, Ott, and Brouwer, somebody's gotta fill those shoes, and yeah it sucks to lose those guys they're real good players, but younger guys like myself, its a good opportunity to step in," said Rattie.

A second-round pick for St. Louis in 2011, Rattie played 13 games with the Blues in the 2015/2016 season where he recorded four goals and two assists.

Having spent much of the past three seasons with the Blues’ AHL affiliate in Chicago, Rattie hopes to solidify his place in the big leagues.

"It's nice that they have the confidence in me to give me the one way contract and it's just nice security to have that as well," said Rattie. "I think I had a good year last year and I'm happy to be with the Blues again and now the real work starts and I have to have a good training camp."

Rattie hopes that he can catch the eye of coach and fellow Albertan Ken Hitchcock with his well rounded play.

Day one of training camp for Rattie and the Blues is September 17th, with preseason starting September 25th.
