Airdrie hockey player Ty Rattie won't be suiting up for the Edmonton Oilers for the regular season opener this year.

Yesterday (September 26) the 24 year old was one of four players assigned by the Oilers to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors.

Goaltender Nick Ellis, right wing Patrick Wilson and defenseman Dillon Simpson will join Rattie in Bakersfield.

Rattie played just three preseason games for the Oilers, failing to register a point and posting a +2 on the ice.

The former second round NHL draft pick signed with the Oilers in the offseason after spending much of the last four seasons with the St. Louis Blues and their affiliate team, the Chicago Wolves.

Rattie might see some action with the Condors as the team opens their preseason against the San Jose Barracuda tomorrow night (September 28).
