Ty Rattie of Airdrie is saying "nyet" to the NHL and "da" to the KHL.
26-year-old Rattie, a second-round draft pick of the St. Louis Blues in 2011 who was left an unrestricted free agent last month when the Edmonton Oilers didn't offer him a new contract, has signed a one year deal with Lokomotiv of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
After a promising end to the 2017-2018 season when he scored five goals and added four assists in just 14 games after being called up from the AHL's Bakersfield Condors by the Oilers, Rattie had a disappointing campaign last year. He scored just 4 times with 7 assists in 50 games.
Rattie has played 99 games in the NHL with St. Louis, Carolina and Edmonton. He has 13 goals and 17 assists.
Lokomotiv is based in Yaroslavl, a city located northeast of Moscow. The population in 2012 was nearly 600,000.
