The Calgary Bantam Football Association season didn't get started off on the right foot for the Airdrie Raiders yesterday (August 25).

The air cleared sufficiently to get all six opening day games in, including the one between the Raiders and the Mavericks.  The Raiders offense managed to put some points up on the board, but, unfortunately not as many as the Mavericks who won by a 54 - 22 score.

The Raiders did score the most points of any losing team yesterday.  Four of the six games ended up being shutouts for the winning teams while in the other game the Stampeders beat the Bulldogs 45 - 2.

Now the Raiders will hope for a smoke-free week of practice as they prepare for their next game against the Lions who were winners in their season opener yesterday.

Kickoff for that game is at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 1st at Hellard Field in Calgary.
